The company began originally as a clothing workshop opened in 1963 in La Coruña by Amancio Ortega. Following initial success with this workshop, Ortega opened his first ZARA store in 1975 still in La Coruña. It didn’t take long until ZARA began expanding throughout the world and beyond its borders, opening the first store outside Spain in 1988 and, soon after, the brand arrived in the United Arab Emirates. Over the course of the next twenty years, ZARA has established itself in more than 33 countries, becoming the world’s largest apparel retailer.
